Moreover I don’t think JEE has any kind of test for management skills or communication/composition skills or any character test! (It only tests for PCM knowledge that too of intermedeate level.) And I also think that “engineering education standards in TamilNadu colleges” are also not based on these qualities. It also must be a test on PCM but only slightly easier than JEE. Plz tell me, do they really take interviews and personality test for Engg. admissions??

The vision of IIT, as defined by Hon. J.L.Nehru, when IITs were established in the first five year plan was “to provide meaningful education, to conduct original research of the highest standard and to provide leadership in technological innovation for the industrial growth of the country.” So the country should expect from IIT graduates to contribute to same.

I have little to do with your views about Megabucks. It’s really sad that it was not par with expectations. All that fooding and contact stuff should not be like that. But to question the stabdards of JEE (which tests PCM) for your above mentioned problem doesn’t seems logical. The are different things and have no relation. Don’t they?

Whether or not IITs are producing technology personels is also independent of the thing due to which you were disappointed. These are to be debated separately.

So if one had to question the so-called “IIT class” it should be on the basis of wether or not aim of IIT is fulfilled. Not on the basis of whether or not IIT people are able to conduct a business fest or not.

To expect a God-like stature from humans is not justice.

I never feel sorry to stamd with what I feel is just and true. I worship justice and I love my alma-mater. Don’t get confused b/w the two verbs…..

I had read your earlier post, and forwarded them to my mates at CEL, BITS Pilani where I used to work when I was at BITS Pilani. Quite a few times, when we used to get guests/speakers at BITS, we failed to hand them a good, interesting audience; and at the end the guest/speaker would’ve been extremely disappointed/disgruntled … which really hurt us. We continuously made efforts for such things not to happen, but at times, things spiraled beyond control – thanks to a huge fest happening, audience being scattered, exams etc etc.

I completely can understand the IIT-K student-side of the story. And I empathize with them. But what is particularly delightful is your candid feedback and that amazing email by the IIT-K organizer thanking you for that. That is, as you said ‘IIT-class’.

Frankly, you shouldn’t give a damn to all those trolls who hate candid feedback and blindly worship their alma-mater without accepting the fact that the race to perfection has no finish line.
